Could someone please reword my translation, as it probably should read?
The text is from the Charter of Eye.
"et quia Dei misericordiam per opus simile spero ego Robertus MALET assensu domini mei Willelmi regis Angliae pro anima ipsius et uxoris ejus Matildi reginae pro memet ipso et pro animabus patris mei Willelmi MALET et matris meae Hesiliae"
My translation as "and because God's mercy by the work of like I hope, I Robert MALET the assent of my Lord William King of England for the soul of her and his wife Matilda Queen for myself and for the souls for myself and for the souls of my father William MALET and my mothers Hesilia"
Regards
Grantley
The reason for the translation, is that it has been interpreted that Matilda was the wife of Robert MALET and I read it as Matilda (of Flanders) being the spouse of King William (the Conqueror).
