i have access to northern territory australia records and will look up what i have to find people in the nt from 1872 (when palmerston of darwin was first settled till 1940. i have cemetery listings for after 1940.

I am looking for Robert Stevenson b 1800c and Agnes Porteous b 1801, Hutton and Corrie , Dumfries, Scotland.They had 3 daughters , Martha , 1831Mary b1828, and Jean b1833 .all born in Dumfrieshire,Scotland They coild possibly have emigrated about 1840.

Mirambu, if you can look for a death of an Arthur Frederick WEST, I'd be very very grateful. He had a son in 1892, and was given as deceased on that son's marriage certificate in 1914. I can't find his death in any of the other states.

i won't be able to do the look up for you till tuesday aust time. however i noticed you have one fellow in your family who married a tuckwell. my aunt married a jack brown in darwin nt. jack was the son of E V V Brown and Eliza Tuckwell. She was the dau of Ned Tuckwell who went to Darwin with his wife in 1872, he was a carpenter and built the first government house, that is still standing. they all came from south australia. will look among my papers at the tuckwells to see if i can find a connection in the am as it is just after midnight now. cheers joy

Arthur Frederick WEST'S son Edwin Peter West married a TUCKWELL in 1914 in South Australia. She was Emily Florence Irene TUCKWELL, daughter of Edward Thomas TUCKWELL & Martha Matilda Ivy JOY.

hi Dee
i have nothing to report for you i searched all the index's and didn't find arthur frederick wests death. however i have had a though that perhaps he went over the way to nz.  in the past i have found a couple of deaths of people in nz after not being able to find them in aust. one was my great uncle that dissapeared probably died on the goldfields in aust somewhere. i found his death in new zealand in 1909 and he had married bigamously there in 1898. so perhaps it may be worthwhile. also sometimes people have been found died of thirst in outback in aust and having no identification on them they were buried as unknown in the state and probably have never been found by family. however i wont give up and keep looking for you when i am searching for other people in records. joy
