confirmation of a date of birth.
« on: Saturday 20 August 11 19:34 BST (UK) »
Hello.

I am still trying to verify a date of birth and I hoping the very clever people who are members of Rootschat can come to my assistance again. The date of birth I am looking for is that is that of  my grandmother who died in Treforrest in 1945 ( that's why I am on the Glamorganshire  Site). I am 95% sure I have found her, but I need  to verify the date of birth.

I have tried the usual things
* death certificate which just gives the the age of my grandmother.
* marriage certificate. Again, just her age
* I even have a photograph of of my grandmothers grave stone, kindly provided by Glyntaff Cemetery, but still no date of birth.
Has anyone any suggestions of where else I might look to find her birthdate, perhaps a National Insurance number? I am open to all ideas.

Thank you all in advance

Hello Julie  :)

Perhaps if you post more information someone will be able to help!

What is your relative's name and what information is given on the certificates? If you give her name, address, age at death, Father's name and occupation, husband's name (provided that he is not still living), age on the gravestone, plus any other information that you know, there will be more chance of finding the right person.

Electoral roll may also be a possibility if you have an address.

Kind Regards
Morgan

Hi

We really do need her name at birth and when you think she was born before we can help out.

Have you found an entry in the index that might be her?

Have you found her family in the census?

Electoral registers weren't compiled between 1939 and 1946 and all women didn't get the right to vote until 1928.

Hi Sorry for the late reply.

here is the information I have about my grandmother.

 Irish church Records
ELLEN SCANLON  born 3 June 1898
mother Mary Weir
 Father John Scanlon

1901 Census she appears with her family now called Helen in Picton Place Canton Cardiff, aged 6. This age seems wrong I know because she should be aged 3 !

1911 census
Nellie Scanlon  a visitor aged 13 from Kerry  is living with Ann Harington a widow aged 60 in Pontypridd. I think this is a credible record for her. I think her parents are dead although her siblings are still living in thee area

1914 I have her marriage certificate 4th July now called Nellie Scanlon marries Patrick Moore in Ponypridd aged 17. John Scanlon also on Marriage Certificate. This age seems iffy also.

finally her death certificate  Eileen Teressa Moore died July 1945 aged 47 in Pontypridd. This age seems OK.
My problem is; I have name changes, age changes. The only definitive records are her death and marriage records. If I could get proof of a date of birth from Nellie's life time which matches the possible church records from1898, I'm on the right track. Am I barking up the wrong tree?
any advice is greatly appreciated.
