Irish Merchant Navy
« on: Thursday 18 August 11 22:47 BST (UK) »
I am seeking a service record for Richard Madigan from Waterford who was a wireless operator in the Irish Merchant Navy from around 1925 to the mid 1930s. Can anyone tell me where these records may be accessed. I found a site www.irishmariners.ie but it only covers the years 1918 to 1921.

Can't help you with the record but I knew Dick as he had an amateur radio licence, as do I. I sometimes helped him with his aerials in dunmore East.

I believe that the Marconi company trained and provided radio officers to the [British] Merchant Navy.  Could that be a source of information?
