As 'sliva' appears at the end of both locations I have on the certificates, will the meaning of 'sliva' be any help?

I would think 'Sliva' is probably an Anglicized version of the Irish for Mountain - sliabh. bh is promounced like a v in Irish (there's no letter 'v' in Irish.)

The derivation of the townland name could be complicated, and may not really help. For example the townland I mentioned earlier of Tullysleva, Tullynasleevagh also has the same Sliabh section to it's Irish name, but there's no obvious mountain in that area that I can see.

Thank you for all your time and effort.

I will be looking around the 4 names you have given.

And thank you for your thoughts on 'sliva'.

Hello again,

on the other thread, you said that all the children were born Castletown, Castleconnor, Sligo.

I know it is expensive, but do you have their birth certificates to check the place of birth.

I assume that 'Grandmother' was Mrs Brogan who registered the birth?

Hi Heywood,

When I first tried to obtain certificates for my Father and his siblings, the General Registry Office found all but 1 of the siblings.  They were all born in Castletown, Registered in the Registrar's District of Castleconor, in the Superintendant's District of Dromore West, Co. Sligo.
There parents were married in Knockmore, Registrar's & Superintendant's District of Ballina, Co. Mayo
After a breakthrough on 'Genes-Reunited' I found the children of one on my Father's Brother. I made contact with them, and they could remember their Father mentioning the name of his Brother John Joseph (the one that I had not found).
I then wondered if he could have been born before they moved to Castletown, so looked for him on 'Familysearch' around Knockmore.  I found a registration for a John Joseph, so applied to the General Registration Office for a photocopy of the Birth Entry - it had the same parents named and the person registering the birth was Bridget Brogan, Grandmother. These details are in a previous entry in the topic.

Apologies if the info was there- just trying sort and search  :

Perhaps, then, there is a baptism for John Joseph with an address.

You would then wonder why they moved if Anthony's address is in Knockmore area.

I am thinking aloud here - I am sure you have been all round the areas searching.

Hi Heywood,

Thank you for your thoughts.

I have tried to telephone the Priest at the Knockmore R.C. Church, but the number I had is not correct.

As Anthony's Father was a Farmer (Anthony's) Marriage Cert. and Anthony was a Farmer on his Marriage Cert and Children's Birth Certs, I think that he may have moved to have his own farm.
