Bernard's first marriage

In 1930 Bernard Coll married Elizabeth Wraith in Halifax. He was aged 57, and described as as widower. I am trying to find who was his first wife. In 1911 he was working as a farm labourer in Burton Hall, Denbighshire, and was then single.

Hi Rosie, I am aware of that Bernard who married Margaret Gilgan. He is a member of the same Coll clan who came from Castlerea, Ireland. The Bernard I am chasing died in Calder, Yorkshire, 1955.

On FreeBMD there's a birth record for a Bernard Coll in March Q of 1926 in the Halifax Reg District.

Could this be your Bernard's son by his first wife? The maiden name of the mother is given as Brophy.

Hi Jill, we have this one covered, the Coll who married Agnes Brophy was Joseph, also part of the Castlerea Colls. Thanks for your interest, this Bernard's first  wife is a tough nut to crack.

I expect you've seen the Ancestry tree which has a Rosaline Coll born Roscommon 10 Nov 1923, parents Bernard Coll and Rose McConnon. There are no birth death or marriage details for Bernard or Rose, suggesting they are not known.

Rosaline Coll married Charles Casey in Marylebone 1943, and they have living descendents. No death showing for Rose.

Hi Marmaduke, I have not seen that tree on Ancestry, but will have a look now. Sadly this is a different Bernard Coll. He was born c. 1875, but lived all his life in Ireland. We had a date of birth for Rosaleen, Nov. 10, 1924, so I am not sure which year is correct, but I think most likely 1924, as a sister was born March 1923, who died as an infant.
