It appears that Patrick Morgan, son of Daniel and Ann Sheeran, died in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania on 31 Oct. 1918 of pneumonia following influenza.

Is it possible that "Ann Sheeran" is really "Ann Sheridan"?  :-\

That is the maiden name of the Ann who married my Daniel Morgan that I am looking for.

It really looks more like Sheran, but I would keep it as a possibility.

There is also a death certificate for Mrs. Mary Morgan, who died 1 Nov. 1918 in Mercy Hospital (same hospital as Patrick), Wilkes-Barre.  She was age 38 and born in Pennsylvania.  The death certificate said Mrs. Patrick Morgan, and then the Patrick Morgan was crossed out and Mary Morgan written in.  She also died of pneumonia following influenza.  Her parents appear to be listed as Michael Dougherty and Bridget Carey, both born Ireland.  Both Mary & Patrick's death certificate give their former or usual residence as 60 N. Main St. and both were buried in Plains.

It looks like there might be death notices for Patrick & Mary here:

You can see some of the text if you scroll to the bottom.

On www.genealogybank.com, there appears to be a funeral notice about the funeral for this couple in a Wilkes-Barre newspaper.  It's not really working for me at the moment, but a library has Wilkes-Barre newspapers from that time for free - https://sites.google.com/site/onlinenewspapersite/Home/usa/pa

That was very kind of you to post all that information.

No, it appears this is not my family, and most likely it was Sheeran and not Sheridan then.

The library newspaper links will prove very helpful in my searching, thank you.

I wouldn't rule it out based on the mother's maiden name on the death certificate, if the other information fits.  I couldn't read who the informant was on the certificate and, considering that both members of this couple were obviously seriously ill at the same time, the information may have come from someone who didn't know his mother.

I thought about that after I posted. I've got so many Anns and Marys in this family, it is hard to keep them straight, in fact, I temporarily forgot I was working on a different generation here. I will take another look at this, but am really dying to get rid of some of my false leads.  :P

I will do my best to update this if I figure it out.

UPDATE: This is my family.  ;D

I've conducted some extensive research, and the marriage and birth certificates I ordered have confirmed it.

Apparently, the "Sheridan" written on my great grandfather's death certificate (as his mother's maiden name) was remembered wrong by the information provider, it was indeed Ann Sheeran (Shearan).

Now, I'd like to find the member whom had posted on here in 2011, "mirambu", as it looks like she is my cousin! I am a descendant of Daniel Morgan who came to Pennsylvania from North Wales.
