Sarah Boucher

I am looking for my great-great-grandmother, Sarah Boucher. Born around 1820 in Marcham, Berkshire. It is questionable whether she was Sarah King or Sarah Boucher. She lists herself in census' as Sarah King but the certificates I have she says formerly Boucher. For her daughters birth she says formerly Boucher but she goes by the name of King.

Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

My thoughts are that you've not clarified the sources (with dates)

"formerly" usually means a maiden name. Is there any father on these birth certificates?
What do the marriage certificates (of her kid(s)) say as father?

Who else is with her on census, what is her marital status/occupation?

On censuses Sarah is recorded as unmarried - so it looks unlikely that she had a husband.

Her daughter is named as Maria Boucher King, both at birth and on her marriage to William Gale in 1864.  The marriage certificate names her father as 'John King' and his occupation as 'gentleman'.

I would suspect that 'John King' is a fiction, and that like many illegitimate children, Maria was given her father's surname as a middle name.

from 1841 to 1891the census show her as a servant or housekeeper or living on her own means
