Browns - Irvine- coal miners
« on: Sunday 14 August 11 22:52 BST (UK) »
Hi
Wondered if anyone has Brown's in family tree.  Mathew Brown b1863 Halfway, Dundonald, Irvine.
Mathew comes from a long line of coal miners,  His father Anthony Brown b1830, Portpatrick.  Going further back, it's to Ireland.  I always thought my paternal family were Scotish through and through, I've only gone back three generations to find tthey have come from Ireland.
By 1891 Mathew and many of his brothers have moved to work as coal miners in Blantyre.
Any information on this Brown family would be welcome.
Also if anyone has information on the coal mining community of this time.
thanks
