DATE and INFO on photographers please

Oh brilliant thanks! Great that this is still alive!!! Am still totally immersed but have had some upheavals so will gradually get back to all this fascinating input. Thanks to everyone who has taken an interest and given information. Once I unpack all the family history stuff I will be up and running again!

Whilst writing I should say that I am the grandson of William stuart who left the uk for South Africa in about 1945 or so.  I've left my file at work but I think his father was WILLIAM stuart of w and j.  My father is now 90 and recalls life at warlingham and Dorin Court.  I have the family tree back to the early 19th century so will be great to compare notes! I also have photos from s Africa sent after g'dads death over there.

I have my file and I'm not sure its that much help.  William Stuart was born in 1840 in Sidbury, Devon.  Not sure about brothers and sisters as the trail went cold there.  I have the tree since then, attached.  My grandfather was actually Charles William (known as Bill) who upped sticks to S Africa. 

I've not done any work on this for a couple of years but would be interested if any new material comes to light

I'm not able to see any connection to my Stuarts. I don't have any William Stuart who was born 1840. So it looks like we are looking at different family trees at the moment.

My GRGRGrandmother Martha Ann Ray born 1840--photo circa 1861 Just about make out the photographer!!!!

Wow - I know this was a couple of years ago but I have just 'found' a photo taken by Stuart Bros. I'm not sure who the pic is of but at least the company name has narrowed the time frame so thanks.

PeteFeet I can't believe that William Stuart originally came from Sidbury.  One branch of my family also came from Sidbury - Saunders/Raymonds.  I photo I have I believe is of a possible sister-in-law to the Saunders branch.  It's such a small world - especially around Sidbury
