Thanks so much!! - this is fantastic!  I stuck it on the Naval Forum website a few days ago - didn't expect it to turn up here - thanks for re-directing it for me - and a great job done too.  The old chap is my great grandfather - George Henry Wheeler and it is taken during WW1 when he went to help with training at Pembroke - I think anyway, glad to hear anything different!

Hi Bob and Ali,

I'm not greatly happy with my finished effort.  More contrast would make it clearer but make the dark parts too dark and light parts too white, as well as bringing up more spots and noise to work on.  It's a compromise really but I'm glad you're happy.

Ken

I am very happy! - shame you couldn't put some smiles on their faces! - what a miserable lot!

Can somebody tell me which one is George Henry...I've just joined this site after seeing the pic and wondering if that's the same George Henry Wheeler that was born in Sheffield about 1854.

If so, he's my Great Great Grandfather...

Happy New Year to you all...

Sorry to disappoint you - would have loved to have helped you, but this one is my great grandfather - born on the Isle of Wight.  He is the old man in the picture.  Good luck with your searching.
