Hi All,

Just found him myself using freebmd, definately registered as Lewis Heslop Raine (March quarter of 1910 = Teesdale), but still a mystery as to his whereabouts in 1910.

Anybody clever enough to find him?

I've been looking on the 1911 free index, but can't see any suitable candidate yet, I'm afraid.

Found them!! On 1911 census transcribed uner 'Kaine' but when opened up, most definately Raine.
Father Samuel Raine, born 1865 and mother, Margaret Jane, born 1875.

George is listed as
George L H Kaine aged one year, born in Mickleton.

George Louis Heslop Raine was my Great Uncle George, whom I remember very well.  He was my grandmothers brother.  They moved to Catchgate in the early 1920's (i think) after some disagreement over Belle Settle Farm in Mickleton-so the story goes.  Uncle George & Auntie Louie lived in Annfield Plain & have 2 sons

His parents were Samuel Raine b.1864 Mickleton & Margaret Jane Bell b.1874 Leadgate
Samuels parents were
Thomas Raine c.1832 Mickleton & Elizabeth Raine c.1833 Mickleton
Thomas' parents were William Raine c.1804 Mickleton & Jane ? c.1807

I am now stuck as I have Raines marrying Raines & all of them living in Mickleton!!

I am a close friend of George Raine's son and his wife. I am helping to research the family tree and have this week been to Mickleton to look at Belle Settle Farm. Do you have any knowledge on what the dispute was over at the farm?
