Hi mikereid-uk

When was your John McQuade born?

The only John mcQuade I have so far in my family (besides my dad, not born in Scotland) was
John McQuade b. Blackfrairs Glasgow c1882. I have no further info. on him I'm afraid.

Parents to him were a James and Mary McQuade nee Boyle both born Glasgow Scotland.

My Granddad did grow up around the Gorbals so maybe a cousin???Uncle?

Happy searching. Ele

Hi McQuade.k,

Thanks. As far as I know my Grandad, Alexander McQuade born Glasgow 1912 only had two sons that I know of and a daughter all born England.

My McQuades dont go back to Ireland until the mid 1800s, Co Monaghan I think.

Keep searching, its frustrating but fun at this same time.

Maybe start with your Dads birth certificate then your Grandads. The certificates will hold information. If you try the beginners section you will find many a person who can be a great source of information.

Good luck. Ele

Hi Ele,

John McQuillan got in contact with me and advised that we may be cousins.

My Grandmother was Mary McQuade b 1908 Glasgow d 1971 Glasgow. My father Alexander b 1931 d 1991 is the son Mary and Archibald Brown b 1899 d 1977. Mary's sister Elizabeth McQuade b 1910 married Robert Darroch in 1941 and emigrated to Melbourne Australia in 1950. Their son Robert (Bobby) now lives in Perth WA!

I am now living in Brisbane, Australia and am happy to share the information that I have on the McQuades.
