Timoteo Barella marries Jane Humphreys in 1860

Hi All,

My mother (maiden name Barella) is (I believe) Great Grand daughter of Timoteo (Timothy).

Timoteo had a son Timothy (born 1865), who married Wilhelmina Anderson who had a son John Hills Barella (born 1911 and who is my mothers Dad).

Not sure if any of you still follow this forum or have any further info but very interested in knowing more about the Barella side and how they came to be in the UK etc.

I've got a document which I think is Timoteo's father (Giuseppe) arrival card in Dover. THis would suggest that Timoteo wasn't first Barella here. I'll try to figure out how to upload it here.

I still follow this forum. I am not related to the Barella's myself. I was doing some research for a friend who is.
It is a good thing you joined Roots Chat. There are so many stories about the family in here. If you follow the thread of this topic back I hope you will discover them.

Thanks for the link to the tree. I have a slight difference with the tree I have put together. On the tree you sent it shows John H Barella (my mothers father, 1911 - 1982) as the son of Timothy Barella and Elizabeth O'Cain. In the tree I have quickly assembled I have his parents as Timothy Barella and Wilhelmina Anderson.

Hi again, You are correct. The researcher whose tree I sent you is wrong because Elizabeth O’Cain died on 22nd January 1900, so she could not be the mother of John Hills Barella. It was Timothy’s second wife Wilhelmina Anderson.

It has been a while since I last checked in. Unfortunately My Beautiful Aunt Dorothy, who was assisting me with our roots passed away and I haven’t been able to bring myself to continue until now. I’m the only remaining person in our family who is even remotely interested in researching our tree. Thank you all very much for the information. The Barella Family has always been my favourite to research. Timoteo and Jane’s son Timothy and Wilhelmina were my Great Great Grandparents. Their daughter Veronica (Vera) Barella married Ernest Lote (My Great Grandparents). Unfortunately Vera was deaf and it was difficult for me as a child to communicate with her before her passing. The one thing that I remember so vividly of this lady was she looked like an old Italian Lady & she loved to cook we never went hungry.
