Marriage lookup in Hamilton
« on: Thursday 11 August 11 07:26 BST (UK) »
I am looking for the marriage of Alexander Smellie and Christian ? . They had John b 1787, Margaret, b 1793 and Andrew b 1800 there may have been other children before moving to Preston in Lancashire.

Can anyone help? I live in Australia so getting to the records office is out of the question

Dear Sancti,

Thank you for your prompt reply. Do you think Margaret and Andrew or any others may have been born elsewhere aside from Alexander who was born in Preston?

There may have been more born in Hamilton but the parents didn't register the baptism.

Do you know when they moved to Preston?

Their son Alexander born in Preston Lancs had a daughter  Jane who married a William Robinson Their daughter Anne married David Stuart Savage and their daughter Bessie married Harrry Pearson. Hi Jane,

I don't know if we have corresponded before.

Alexander and Christian are also my 4 x great grandparents.  Their daughter Margaret who married James Collins in Preston is my 3 x great grandmother.

I have been researching the family for many years.  In fact, I am working on them at the moment.

If you would like to send me your e-mail address, we can discuss them further.

Kind regards,

Anne
