Hi Diddy
Many thanks for your response. Whereabout does your daughter and family live? Has she been to Kawhia, where George Charleton eventually lived, from 1840 til his death in 1863. I live 70kms away.
I am now just getting used to searching the Durham records. For example I located the St Mungo Simonburn Records from 1760 onwards, sadly with many gaps, but I was thrilled to locate the birth entry for Richard Charlton, bapt 7 May 1769. However I could not locate any of the seven siblings mentioned in his father 's Will -Thomas Carlton, [1714-1788]. So still looking for some of them.
I iwould love to receive a copy of your Charlton files. My email is
stephenschollum@gmail.com On other sites I was
s.schollum@clear.net.nz, but that server discontinued service in 2015.
I do wonder if some people, seeing my postings, and wanting to help, have sent messages never to have heard back from me, and possibly being reluctant to reply to other posters.
Regards Stephen. PS This research is turning up all sorts of places I am searching on line, and so, having looked them up, I am compiling a list of places to one day visit if and when I get back to
NBL.:)Eg, saw Black Bull Inn in Wark owned by a Charlton. No doubt others
