Date please - COMPLETED
« on: Saturday 06 August 11 12:35 BST (UK) »
I am not sure which is Edward Hardley in this photo.  An approximate date the photo was taken would be very helpful.

Many thanks
Kaye

Edward was born 1892.  I'm not sure if the young boy is Edward or the one in military uniform.
Thank you so much for your early reply.

Hi Kaye

It is WW1 period. The soldier is wearing 'hospital blues', so he was home on sick leave. The suit was light blue, white shirt and red tie. The cap is his own - so if you can do a better scan of the cap badge, it should be possible to identify the regiment.

I think the cap badge is the AIF Rising Sun.

kaye,
you can view Edwards service record at: http://www.naa.gov.au/collection/recordsearch/index.aspx
'Search Now As Guest' then on results page click on the digitised album.
You will see that he had three stays in hospital. Two of them in England. I fancy the photo was taken during January 1919 when he was in 3 AA Hospital, Dartford, Kent.
Cheers
Dave

To:  Ken, James and Dave

I now know that it is indeed Edward Hardley in the cap.

I had assumed the photo was taken in Australia, so at least I know now that the older man and child are not part of the Hardley family living in Australia.

Thank you all so much.

Kaye
