Guildford Cemetery ~ RAF burials query
« on: Saturday 06 August 11 09:19 BST (UK) »
A brother of one of my uncles is buried in Guildford Cemetery  (according to CWGC web site)   in July/ August 1940.

Can anyone please tell me  whether there is an RAF  section in that cemetery,  or  are they  dispersed  at random in the cemetery.   can anyone please tell me the post code of the cemetery, then I can look at it on Google earth.

Hello ScouseBoy
I know the cemetery in Guildford, it’s right up on a hill, with a great view over the town. Lewis Carroll is buried there.
The address is- The Mount
Guildford
Surrey  England

As far as I can remember there aren’t military personal buried there. It’s not obvious at least.
I wonder if your uncle is actually buried in Brookwood cemetery near Woking, about 7 miles from Guildford. It is a huge place of rest with many different sections for professions, nationalities and religions.
All the best

Try GU2 4ES.
This is Beech Lane Guildford. Make your way to the northern end of the road, where it joins The Mount. The Cemetery is on your left.
Local authority contact is at crematorium@guildford.gov.uk they ought to be able to provide a grave map.
Cheers

Hi

The guide to Surrey burials at the top of the two main Rootschat Surrey boards gives links and dates of the opening of the cemeteries managed by Guildford Borough Council and their addresses, but also gives the link to the War Graves Photographic Project which works in association with the CWGC photographing gravestones.

Possible this man?

You can just as easily use Google Maps (satellite) - just put in The Mount Guildford and zoom down
