McBride/Kernaghan:Kilbride/Artnagullion?
« on: Thursday 04 August 11 22:41 BST (UK) »
John McBride lived at Kilbride in the early 1800s. He had a daughter Eliza who was born c1837 and married John Kernaghan who may have been from Artnagullion, Co. Antrim.

Any information about the Kernaghan and McBride families in the early- mid 1800s would be useful.

If you order a copy of the 1863 marriage certificate it should give you the couple’s townlands, which may confirm that you have the right families.

Griffiths Valuation in 1862 has a record of a John Kernaghan renting a house, offices (outbuildings) and 18 acres of land; also another John Kernaghan (known as Jack) renting a house and 1 acre of land, and a William Kernaghan renting a house, offices and 12 acres. All in Artnagullian townland. These would all have been off the modern Parkgate Road, south of Kells.
