Thomas Anderson,b 1878, and family
« on: Thursday 04 August 11 11:53 BST (UK) »
Hi All
Have the following family missing from Ireland, after marriage in 1902. Have checked all U.k with no avail.
Can some one check possible 1910 census returns or returning travel to U.k before 1915.
Family as follows Thomas Anderson,b 1878, Jemima (Henry)Anderson,b 1881, wife.
Children Thomas ,b 1903, Archibald b1906, James b,1909, John ,b1912.
Jemima died in Ireland in 1915, possibly at birth of Samuel, b 1915.
Any pointers would be most appreciated

The transcriptions for the 1910 Census are available for free at www.familysearch.org.  That site also has some passenger lists for that time frame.

Hi Curley,

Seems each link I find is yours - I suspect there are only a handful of us tracing this branch!

Jemima and Thomas' son James was my grandfather.  I was always told that his mother (Jemima) passed away when his youngest brother Samuel was born and the dates seem to confirm that, although I don't know whether it was in childbirth or after related or not.  I can't find where Jemima is interred - if anybody could help that would be wonderful.

Their children Samuel (d. 1985) and Archibald (d. 1934) stayed in Ireland.  Thomas went to Australia, John to New Zealand, and James (d. 1995) to Ontario Canada.  I know that James did go back to visit Samuel once :-) unfortunately I don't have any pictures :-(

Hi Sheila
Yes I keep turning up everywhere. I had someone from Canada a few years back enquiring about Anderson,s and I beleive they were possibly planning a visit to Ireland, Didn,t hear anymore.
Jemima died 3 Agust 1915 and is interred in Kildress Church of Ireland churchyard. No headstone but I presume it is the same grave as Samuel whodied 8 Nov 1985 and has a headstone.
Samuel was born I think in Feb 1915, so Jemima,s death may not be related, need death cert to establish this.
Kildress Parish Church is located 3 miles west of Cookstown,Co Tyrone, and about 2 miles from where your James emigrated from in 1928 to Canada.
As you are probably aware lots of Anderson descendents in this area, by the way I live beside Kildress churchyard.
One question, Did Thomas who married jemima, have a brother Samuel who possibly married Jemima,s sister Elizabeth in 1902 in Cookstown Methodist Church. Names are mentoned in Jemima,s father Archibald,s obituary.
Have you a sub to Ancestry.com as I have a tree on there which contains all my Henry/Anderson information so far.
 Cheers in the meantime
Austin

Hi Austin,  I am on ancestry - the tree is 'Our Heritage'.  I can't seem to find Thomas Anderson's mother so I am stalled at this branch.  I also have not yet located Thomas' siblings so I don't know whether the brothers did marry Jemima and her sister.  I'll see if I can link into your tree on Ancestry.  Sheila
