Thanks very much to

Gerry (especially the fact that he was an accountant and that he lived in Adelaide)

Essie (especially the ship the family arrived in and the year) and I will try to follow the children of the first marriage just in case that is the connection I'm looking for.

Cando (Mother's maiden name being Heath confirmed that the Norman Heath Trowell who enlisted in WWI was Thomas and Emma B 's son. Interesting, in his enlistment application he stated that both parents were dead, although I haven't found Emma's death at all.  Also the year and place of birth of Thomas gave me details for the 1841 and 1851 census.)

So, with all your help, I have found quite a lot about Thomas J Trowell,  and soon will find the connection with Forbes.    It appears he moved around a fair bit so there is a lot of possibilities.

Thanks once again

Jean

Hi Jean (and other Trowell tracers),

This is my first first entry on this site . I am Norman Heath Trowell's gran-daughter and can give information which may fill in some missing links for you - I am also interested in gaining some information. Until now, it has been a dead-end in tracing my grandfather's past. Will wait and see if I have done this correctly and this is received.

Just a quick one - I think Egg Merchant may well be correct for Thomas senior's occupation in 1841- when you look at others close by the TROWELL family there are similar occupations - baker, butcher, haberdasher, oilman, beef ? shopkeeper.

Hi,

only a peripheral connection, but my ancestor was William McPherson; his brother Thomas McPherson married Isabella Annie Trowell, who was the daughter of your Thomas John Trowell.

Can you keep me in mind if you bump into any of Thomas and Isabella's descendants in your search?

Thanks,

Sean Halpin
