Thomas and Rose Smith
« on: Sunday 31 July 11 20:32 BST (UK) »
Hi my grandfather thomas bird 1906-1981 first marriagewas to Rose Smith and they had a son * Bird.  Thomas then married my grandmother Sarah Ann Brant and had a daughter * all residing in Hastings.  I am trying to find out why Thomas left Rose and when they got divorced.  Thomas was from travelling roots and therefore hard to find!

many thanks
Esther and daughter Sadie

Hi

First marriage to Rose was in 1928 and second was in 1952

Did they definitely divorce?  Rose didn't die before 1952?

Hi Carole, thanks for those dates. my mum always told me that her parents married after she was born and when he got divorced from his first wife.  Although as we are tracing family history we are finding out that many things my grandparents told her were not always true!  :) seems they changed minor details to make it better so the idea that he may not have been divorced is a possibility Thomas and Sarah Ann (Annie) were also cousins.

That may well be true as there are 2 possible births before 1952.

Have a look at this website
