hi, you don't give any places - were they married Hindlesham?? as the suffolk burial index has:

Edward Waterman bur 10/6/1884 age 64  (1820)  Hindlesham

if it is him it narrows down dob.

that record has him living Tattignstone and the 1881 census has

Edward WATERMAN   Pauper Inmate   Wid  Male   63   Layham, Suffolk, England   Agricultural Labourer

inmate of Tattingstone union workhouse

that means he was born Layham

the family search pilot site has his baptism as :

Edward Waterman  22/3/1818 hadleigh s/o Edward & Jane

Hadleigh is just up the road from layham so this makes sense. thta would seem to agree with your theory. no surname for mother yet.

thank you so much for this information, it would make sense, and be around the right dates,  but i can be sure if it is the right person or not, is there anyway  i can get some information with regards to brothers sisters etc.

I am very grateful for this information and well done on getting this for me - the Edward waterman  that died in the pauper house is the man i am talking about and his birth i have est at being around 1818 - it is his parents i am trying to get, he appears on the 1841 census as Edward warterman married to Martha knock in hintlesham. his son Samuel is my 3rd gt grand father .

n the 1841 census it also shown another family of wartermans living next door to  Edward, so i can only think that they could well have been brothers, but without a birth certificate or census i seem to be lost.

Many thanks for all your help
