George Taylor Hart & Lucy Neale, Edmonton
« on: Saturday 30 July 11 14:50 BST (UK) »
George Taylor Hart was born in Liverpool on 2 May 1888 son of Herbert Hart and Jane (Jennie) Wilson Taylor.

He is meant to have gone to Canada around 1912, but I can't find him leaving.

His wife was Lucy Neale (born around 1896) but I do not know if he married her in the UK or in Canada.  As far as I know she was English, but I stand to be corrected.

They had 2 children (that I know of) in Edmonton - (i'll abbreviate in case they are still alive), a son "E" in 1924 and a daughter "M" in 1927.  Lucy, E and M arrived back in the UK in April 1933 aboard the Duchess of Bedford.  George does not travel with them and there is an indication in the manifest that Lucy and her children were arriving back in the UK to stay.

There is meant to be a 3rd child possibly born in Canada as well but I do not think Lucy was his or her mother.

George died back in Liverpool in 1974.   I don't know when Lucy died.  There is a possible in 1937 in Wrexham, but I am querying in Wrexham connection in itself.

If anyone could find out about George (and Lucy's?) marriage and time in Canada and their travels back and forth, I'd be grateful.

Do you have specific dates for either "E" or "M"?

Hi Ruth,

I found a passenger reecord for George coming to Canada  in 1913. Came on ship Canada departed 6/05/1913 to port of Montreal.

I have not found a passenger record for Lucy coming to Canada but will check further.

I have not found a marriage record for George and Lucy in England  so think they married in Canada. No birth record found for the children .

I think you are right about the family returning to England as Lucy's record for 1933 indicates they were going to stay. Found a passenger record for George

returning  on the ship Duchess of Richmond 4 June,1932. They were both going to Allport Lane,Bruce Borough,Cheshire.

George Taylor Hart died  Jan 1974 Liverpool,Merseyside,Lancashire and Lucy died Feb,1937 Wrexham,Wales .Lucy  is buried at Edmonton Cemetery, Edmonton

AB. Her buriel date was 07/03/1937. She is buried in Section OH Block 0032 Plot 0007.

If you google Random Acts of Genealogical Kindess for Edmonton Ab you should be able to find someone on the list who would be willing to take headstone

pictures.

If you go to The Recents Alberta and British Columbia(B.C.) Obituary list at www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~abwcobit/ and check out obituaries for 1937 in Alberta

you will find her name. You can get a copy of her obituary.I do not think there is a charge.

The two  sources I used for most of the info was Ancestry and Ancestorsonboard.

Now I'm off to see if I can find Lucy coming to Canada.
