My husbands father was Joseph Benson Rogan born Whitehaven 21/11/1941 sadly he passed away 27th October 2010. Hope this helps?

Hi Yogi,
My grandmother's sister married a Rogan in 1925.  Their son told me that the name was thought to be Scottish.  I don't know if this helps or hinders.  They're Whitehaen Rogans.

Hello I saw your message about your Uncle.
My mother was a Rogan the name is indigenous to County Down in Northern Ireland. And I've been given to believe the Rogan name is purely Irish.

My maternal grandfather was Patrick Rogan and he came over to work in Barrow in Furness and married my grandmother who was from barrow she was called Frances Thompson.She was an only child and her mother my great grandmother died and my great grandfather later remarried and moved to London.

Does any of this relate to any of your information?

My father was Edward Rogan he died in 1990 in his seventies, was in the army WWII and worked in Vickers. My grandmother came from Ireland and my fatherīs sister, my aunt Madge married and divorced a Wright although she kept her married name. I donīt know if they came from Whitehaven. I am trying to put together my family tree. If you have further info I would be very greatful.
