Welcome to Rootchat Brendan.

Thankyou for spelling out what info you have.

If you look at the subjects of David Robertson etc
and also John Smith Jackson on the New Zealand Completed boards you
might get some additional info.
such as David Jackson &  [BOER-WAR] Natal Militia

Thank you so much for Headstone (M.I.) for David ROBERTSON and family
I have the lair details but did not have the visual proof.
How did you find them? Do you have any for the JACKSONS?

I have paid 25 NZ dollars to have the records for Arthur Robertson digitized
but so far have not heard from NZ archives that it has been done.
I hope it has, the money appeared on my Visa a couple of months ago.

As you can tell from the posts You have other JACKSON and ROBERTSON
family also trying to document the twists and turns in this story.
feel free to copy me om PM's regarding living relatives.

Yours Aye,
Angus

Hi everyone,

Well, it's been a while since I logged on. Brendan, you've given me some info for my family tree that was missing, yet I had photos of headstones that helped me follow up dates etc. Thanks.

Angus I hope you got my last PM email to you with the info.

Janine, Col George Jackson b: 27/7/1836 d: 1/4/1913 m: Ida on 20/10/1859. Ida b: 3/4/1936 (Bourtie) d: 22/9/1913

Hope this helps.
Cheers cuz
Jane

Hi Jane,
good to hear from you again.

I don't have a recpord of a PM from you.
that I can see.

Did we maybe do by direct email.

Would you mind resending as I would hate to loose amything.

Did you manage to get any more info regarding
John Smith Jackson's parents ?.  According to Brendan's research
he was the Ptrovost of Inverurie.  I suspect he also had more children
than John Smith Jackson.

I would also love to have your headstone (MI) photos.

Yours Aye,
Angus

Hi Angus and Jane,

If Jane tried to send a PM before reaching a post count of three her PM facility probably wasn't activated.

This facility should now be active so try to PM each other now.

Good luck with your research. :)

Morning Angus

Col Jackson was indeed the Provost of Inverurie and there is a fabulous painting of him in the Town Hall which I've seen courtesy of my cousins who still live in High Street, Inverurie.

The following is from the family tree I started in 1992 with Emily Laing - another branch of the Jackson family. Emily was the daughter of Flora & John Adam.

Col. Jackson family
1. George b: 15/5/1860 d: 29/4/1923 m: Mary Stevenson
2. Ida m: Henry Nares (no other info)
3. James (Grocer, Aberdeen) m: Jeannie (no other info)
4. William b: 6/1/1866 d: 5/9/1902
5. Margaret (went to South Africa)
6. John Smith b: 30/8/1870 d: 18/9/1963 m: Jane Hellen (Helen) Robertson 27/10/1897 b: 24/7/1870 d: 5/5/1961 (went to New Zealand)
7. Marie Anne b: 30/4/1872 d: 26/6/1937
8. Alice b: 7/2/1874 d: 24/8/1932 m: Frank Robb (no other info)
9. Katherine (went to USA) m: John Alexander (sea captain) (no other info)
10. Flora b: 29/9/1877 d: 1/4/1952 m: 1901 John Adam (Cycle Agent) b: 1877 d: 22/4/1918

Will dig out photos and send them to you.

Cheers
Jane
