Can anyone tell me how can I find out about someone that was in the Maritime Ack Ack, Royal Artillery in the 2nd world war. They didnt die, and we dont have their service number.

From what you tell us. Your ancestor was probably a Royal Artillery DEMS ( Defensively Equipped Merchant Ship) gunner.
DEMS are always difficult to research but this link to an old thread on the Mercantile Marine Archive may give you some pointers.
