If the deceased was O'Donovan and a male then the brother would also be O'Donovan.  If the deceased was a married sister then I would still say that he was an O'Donovan.   Anna

I don't think it would just be "O'Donovan" - surely it should be an initial and a surname.  My vote is for "O Donovan".

The first initial is O and the surname is Donovan.

O'Donovan is a known Irish first name as well as a surname.
