? Regiment
« on: Wednesday 27 July 11 18:08 BST (UK) »
I have come across a photo of a young man who is a mystery to me, however he bears a very strong resemblence to my husbands Grandad and Grand Uncle so I know he is a relative of his. I believe him to be a son of the brother of these two men and I am wondering about the regiment.

If it is this young man, I have seen his service records, John Horton, 1896, 21st Batallion, Middlesex regiment. My confusion is there is a little clue on the uniform sleeve, the word ROYAL. Is it possible this still could be the same person or is it an entirely different regiment altogether?

The records state he was 19 when he joined up but he was discharged for being under age. I have worked him out to be 14 or 15 on joining.

Any thoughts

Thank you
Sue
