Sheldrake / Sheldrick / Shelldrake
« on: Wednesday 27 July 11 03:28 BST (UK) »
Hello,

Wasw ondering if anyone could help with a look for the following..

1861 Census William (Wilm) Sheldrick - birth 1846, ennum Carleton Co.

I believe it should list his father as Alphred Sheldrick (born 1819) - but need confirmation.  If possible I would like to confirm the death of Aphred in 1911, Carleton Co.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

Scott

Alfred Sheldrake b. 1819 England, d. March 11, 1911 Vernon, Osgoode, Carleton County.  Widowed at the time of death and parents not known.  Henry Sheldrake was the informant.

In 1861 15 year old Wilm was with his parents, Alphreed (42), and Susan (36) and siblings
Mary (16), John (13), Susan (11), Sarah (8 ), Abert (6), Allan (4) and Adline (2).  They were in Osgood, Carleton and the surname was listed as Sheldrick.   In 1881 Osgood is listed in Russell County and Alfred Sheldrake is enumerated with wife and 5 children.

Hi there,
Alfred Sheldrake is my great great grandfather and was born in 1818 according to our family findings but possible it was 1819.  He came to Canada sometime before 1841 because he married Susan Shelp in 1841 in Osnabruck, Ontario (near Cornwall). He and Susan had 13 children. Alfred Senior died on March 11, 1911 at Vernon, Ontario, Osgoode Twp., Carleton County. My great grandfather was Alfred Sheldrake (name later changed to Sheldrick) who was a postmaster in Grant, Ontario. Alfred (Junior) and his wife Margaret Ann Cook had 12 children, my grandfather being Daniel, and then my father was Melville.  I am curious how you are related to the Sheldrake clan and if you might have any information on Alfred Senior's parents or from where he came from in Britain.  I have further family info -- perhaps we can help each other out with our family trees.
Hope to hear from you, Thanks, Bev Potter.
