I suggest that you ask on the Irish section  for anyone to look for the parents in Ireland.

My great grandparents came over to Lancashire from Ireland in the 1870s  bu went back to Ireland to get married there,  and then they returned to Liverpool and Lancashire.

As per a fairly normal Irish tradition(?!?!), this is the marriage:

December qtr 1881
West Derby district    vol 8b, page 943

O'Donovan, Augustine

It's that pesky little O that was causing me problems!  ;D

1901 Ireland census draws a blank ???
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

Aha! I noticed that on one of the census transcripts he was Augustine O Donovan, but didn't strike me it was O'Donovan!
