Italian great grandfather...where did he come from?

Hello. I am a complete Italiophile so was delighted to learn that I had a great grandfather called Luigi Pesce who came to England from Italy some time before 1911 and settled in Plymouth.
I have found him on the 1911 cenus living with another Italian family in Plymouth.
I have his marriage certificate from 1918. His father was called something like Domenico....there the trail goes cold.
Any ideas about how I could find out more.
Sad to say, all the people who might have known are now dead!

About 24.He was born about 1887. He married in 1918

His surname was Pesce...sometimes mistakenly transcribed as Pesco

i've tried looking on UK Incoming Passenger Lists, 1878-1960 but i cannot see anything that is positively your Luigi

Unfortunately, ship lists from Europe were not regularly recorded (except some cases of ships going to/from more distant locations that made stopovers), so it may be that his arrival will not be found in those records.

On his marriage certificate, who were the witnesses? You should do some research on the family he was living with in 1911 in case they were some sort of relatives or came from the same part of Italy as him.

Liverpool has some records of Foreign Immigrants from 1879 to 1912...these are people who arrived and stayed in Merseyside....unfortunately your Pesce /Pesco isn`t there...but maybe one of the witnessess might be if you know them

I will dig out the marriage certificate and see if there were any italian sounding witnesses. I suspect not as I think I would remember that.

I did have a look into the family he was living with but didn't come up with much. I'll have to dig a bit deeper there.
