hi everyone,
can any one help me to get any sort of details about my relation who died 10/jan/1945 in providence,providence rhode island.
all i have is a james queen died and spouse's name was a alice plante,is there any way to find out about a possible marriage or children from the above relationship.
hope some one can steer me in the right direction.

Hi Zander,

Limited information on the death record but to help those searching James Queen was born 31 Dec 1900 Glasgow. Scotland to James Queen and Annie Brennan.

There is a family living at 316 Nuneaton Street. Glasgow in 1901 which looks to be the family.


James Queen Born Ireland and34 years.  Boiler Fireman and Annie Queen Born Ireland aged 29 years
Thomas Queen Born Ireland aged 10 - Annie Queen  Born Ireland aged 5
Jonas Queen Born Ireland and aged 3 - James Queen aged  3 months.
Thomas Brannen aged 20 Corporte Street Sweeper. Brother-In-Law. Born Ireland.

Coincidence ? Two brothers travel from Glasgow to Halifax. Nova Scotia arriving 14 April 1914 on the Hesperian.
Jonas Reilly Queen aged 16 years and James aged 13 years. Both from Scotland. Quite a number of children travelling on this voyage.

Jonas Reilly Queen born 21 December 1898 Glasgow. Scotland, appears on Canadian Soldiers of WW1.
Resides:- Osgoode Station. R.R. 4   Brother is James Queen. Occupation Farmer.
5 ft 6 ins Medium Complexion, Blue Eyes, (Left eye crossed)
Dated June 24 th 1916

Jonas does not show up on the US SSDI Index.

IF these are the correct brothers, then the marriage for James Queen could well be in Canada  ???

Pte Jonas R Queen (246539) travels on the Empress of Britain 25 th Feb 1919  (looks like troop carrier - Military District 3) - Liverpool England to Halifax. Nova Scotia.
6th Res 207 th - Next of Kin:- Brother Ottawa.

hi sandra,
many many thanks,i had the details of the family in scotland but nothing after that,searched a lot for this jonas queen but had not a thing to go on.
this so far is the most i have had on the 2 brothers and yet why where they on the ship without any parents.
but again thanks as this at least gives me some hope in getting a few more leads.

Hello folks  :).

The top of the passenger manifest page has Quarriers Party written on it. This indicates that the boys were sent to Canada as Home Children. This in turn has generally indicated that something has happened to their parents so you might consider searching 'scotlandspeople' for a death or deaths of one or both.
