Any idea when Thomas Lamont was born? Suspect it was before 1864 (in which case there will be no birth certificate and you'd need to see if church record of a baptism exists)

Not a common surname in Co. Armagh, There are none in the 1901 census.
Griffiths Valuation has just one entry for Lamont in Co. Armagh. That’s for a Eugene Lamont who, in 1864, was renting a house and yard in William St, Portadown.

Do youn have the marriage certificate for Thomas and Catherine? If not, Scottish birth certificates list date and place of parents' marriage.
If the marriage took place in Scotland the certificate should list important details such as names of both parents.
If the marriage took place in Ireland it will list fathers' names and occupations as well as residence of bride and groom at time of marriage which may help find locations in Armagh.
