Even if an internet company's policy is to protect your personal info you can never trust them because:-

1) IT/Admin staff make software bugs and data errors
2) No IT system is anywhere near 100% safe from internal data thieves or external hackers

If you are worried that fraudsters or paedophiles might get hold of your, or your childrens', details DO NOT POST ANY INFO ABOUT YOURSELVES ON ANY WEBSITE.

I know what you're saying ( from someone who has never put their own details on the web for thousands of damn good reasons) - I'm up in arms about it.

I've sorted the problem out (how to put a stop to it),Child protection laws in this country .
