Hello again!

As I understand it, the Baptists don't usually baptise infants.  They do it later, when the person is old enough to make her/his own decision about joining the church.  So, if Charles had Baptist parents there might not be any record of him as a child.  (There are others on here with far more knowledge than me - I'm happy to be corrected!)

But then it's quite likely that he only married at the chapel because Henrietta wanted to  :D

To post on the Dorset (not Dorest!) board, go to the top of this page - click Forum (next to Welcome) - scroll down to 'England (Counties as in 1851-1901)' - counties are listed, click 'Dorset' - click 'New topic' and away you go.

Hope this helps!
Regards, Carol

Some burials for the family are on the Forest of Dean site, including that of Charles

http://www.forest-of-dean.net/

& they are buried in unconsecrated ground which would suggest that they were non-conformist.

Osprey
, Thank you for the information of the burial on the forest site. This site has been very helpful filling in information from other members of the family. We know were Charles is buried, we were hoping for a head stone to at least provide a  date of birth, but alass nothing. I didn't really expect to find one , but thought it was worth a try.

Thank you

Carol,   Thank you for the information on the Baptist approach to Baptisms, I did not know this.  Your right it could also be because of Henrietta, so I will try and seek out some more information there.

I'm new to this site , so thank you for clarifying, i will be sure to post a request on the Dorset forum. Plus I need to spell check before posting! :D

Cheers
