I am new to Rootschat having stumbled across this site today, I am a decendent of a James Henry Tourell and what I have is he was born 05/07/1854 in Middlesex England. He migrated to NZ at the age of one, his wife Mary Doyle was from Ireland.
He died in Dunedin NZ on 05/01/1926.
I have an interest in knowing a bit more as I will be in France next week and will be travelling thru Nimes, this city popped up on a google search for the Tourelle name. The family has known of a Huguenot  connection but not much eles. Of interest is that my grandfather fought in France in 1917-1919. He was in the NZ Expeditionary Force and survived the war.
I know this is an old thread but I hope someone may have some additional info.
Cheers
Juan

HI There thanks for info, we are closely connected! you thru James William father of James Henry and me thru James William's sister Ellen Elizabeth Tourell whom married Benjamin Packwood in Northampton in 1851. Have you traced the Tourell's back from James William?
Cheers

Hi Juan,
I am interested in the Tourell family in NZ because of Mary Doyle. I have information about this Doyle family.

I am researching the Tourell family in NZ and have living descendants from Nimes here in NZ
They came to NZ in 1855.
Happy to discuss with anyone interested.

I just came across this thread and have the majority of records you are after if you haven't got them all yet.  This is a line I have been concentrating on and have found so many of the documents have been translated from the original French which has been making the fact checking doubly difficult!!

My line is similar to many of you who have replied.
Antoinette Leonard 1715- 7th great-grandmother
Jean Toureill 1739-1791 - 6th great- grandfather
Jean Pierre "John Peter" Tourell "Toureille" 1767-1823 - 5th great-grandfather
James William Tourelle 1805-1854 - 4th great-grandfather
Ellen Elizabeth Tourelle 1829-1910 - 3rd great-grandfather
Henry "Harry" Packwood 1866-1942 -2nd great-grandfather
Francis "Frank" Eric Packwood 1894-1966 - great-grandfather
Ian Crosleigh Packwood 1930-2021 - grandfather
Janet Vivienne Packwood 1956- mother
Luella Ruth Bartlett (Me  :))

I would love to make contact with anyone who wants to, this line is special to me, it was something my grandfather was researching before he died.  And thank you for all the information on here, it has filled in some gaps,  given me extra stories and more research material.
