I am in North Berwick quite often. 22 High Street is now part of the Nisa convenience store. This is a relatively new building as it used to be Fowler's garage which was then demolished.

50 High Street is part of the police station.

Thanks elboy - that's really interesting.  I'll certainly take a walk along the High Street when I make my trip to East Lothian.  It sounds as though, like most places, there have been huge changes in North Berwick over the past century.

The book on the old shops is £15 by John Fergie published last year. I bought a copy for my mother who was born in North Berwick. I had a quick look through it but couldn't see any reference to Lavinia Fraser.
