Kenna Joseph at Jessie and Spencer st. (JM cannot find the town listed)  a public accountant,

From the National Archives of Australia

Francis Joseph KENNA  QX12735 : born 13 Apr 1906 : at ROCKHAMPTON QLD : enlisted - BRISBANE QLD : Next of Kin - KENNA C

http://www.naa.gov.au/collection/recordsearch/index.aspx  Libby, this is a free to search site, search as a guest ....

His service file has not been digitised, but I think this would be the lad named as Frank J Kenna, the son who was noted as missing (in action, WWII) in the cutting of 5 July 1943

From WWII nominal Roll
Francis Joseph KENNA was a PoW, d o d 12 Sep 1944

Libby, as there is a known date of death, it is possible to have his WWII service records digitised.  There is a fee attached to that, and the information as to how to organise is on the naa website.

A Qld death registration giving d o d 12 Sept 1944 Joseph Francis KENNA with his parents recorded as Joseph James KENNA and Christian Higgins Brand .... my index has something "odd" showing death registered in 1946... (d o d was definitely indexed as 1944)

Edit to add  I remember that when helping with the RChat searchings to help on the Fromelles missing (WWI), that Qld BDM issued d.c.s for their On Active Service fallen, so perhaps that the the co-incidence of dates is simply Qld honouring the WWII servicemen and servicewomen who were not ever to return to Qld.

Joseph Francis KENNA was born 1906 to Joseph James KENNA & Christian Higgins Brand. Ref = 1906/C9815
Libby, using the BDM indexes you can build quite an extensive tree of descendants of William Joseph KENNA and Ellen Fleming who arrived in Australia from Ireland on board the "Prince Consort" in 1864.

Ask if you need help.

I'm going to have to quit for tonight.......I'm nodding off again.

Libby, I'm related to William Kenna and Hannah Saunders. Well sort of, one their descendants adopted my mother, anyhow back to the information at hand.

William Joseph Kenna born in 1880 in Queensland, died in 1956 at North Sydney and buried at Macquarie park cemetery. He was 1 of 11 children of Joseph William Kenna and Ellen Fleming. William Joseph married Hannah Saunders.

Hannah Saunders died in 1962 and was buried at Macquarie park cemetery. They married at St. Leonards in 1904, and had 7 children. Elsie (D 1990), Rupert Vincent (b 1904), Gladys A (1906), Albert Edward (1907), William J (1908 - 1977), Katherine Ellen Teresa (Kit) (1921 - 2007) and Nancy Ellen (1925 - 2008).

Nancy Ellen married John Henry Joseph Marrinon in 1952. It was this couple, my grandparents who adopted my mum.
