Thompson, Rosedermot
« on: Sunday 17 July 11 19:05 BST (UK) »
Hello Henry,
I came across your post and wondered if you could help me out too.

I have found that my Grandfather was Henry James Thompson Hume born in Ahoghill in 1867.  His Father was Samuel who married Rose Ann Thompson on 12th January 1865 . Their address was Rosedermot in Dunaghy and Samuel was a widower aged 28. Rose was 23.  Both their Fathers were farmers.  I wonder if you have any information on this family.  I have been looking for a long time but can get no farther back.
I would be extremely grateful of any information .
p.s. Henry came here to Scotland.  He had a Brother Samuel, and his farmer Grandfather was Samuel.
Kind regards,
Linda Taylor (nee Hume)

Samuel Humes is listed in Rosedermot in Griffiths Valuation in 1862 when he was renting a house. (Plot 10a, near the modern Lislaben Road).

Rosedermot is one of the townlands in the surviving fragments of the 1851 Irish census. It can be seen on line on:

Unfortunately the Hume family were not living in Rosedermot then. But at least you know from this they must have moved there between 1851 & 1862.
