My great grandparents are Andrew Dineley and Amelia (Gray) Dineley.   Their daughter, Harriet (Dineley) Hillis was married to James Hillis, born in Belfast.   The emigrated to Waterford, NY, USA.

I would LOVE to hear more about this family, and the Beatties.

Alexander Hillis, m. to Mary Jane (Beattie) Hillis c. 1888.

I can be found on Facebook.

Thank you so much!!!!!

Does anyone have parents of each of the ancestors in the Dineley/Gray families?   Sometimes people already have those things in their records.

Also, because of John Beattie, I'm very much interested in the Beattie connection.   It was said in our family that we descended from Admirable Beattie.   I have no idea if that is true.

I have James and Alexander Hillis' ancestors back quite far ... nothing on John Beattie.   I don't even know who he married, if anyone.

Plus, my grandmother used to say we were related to Maxwells.  I have since discovered that John Beattie lived with some Maxwells near the end of his life, but I do not know why.

Some more information for you  ;D

Your GGGrandmother Mary Jane Beattie passed away in 1908, at 28 Hornby Street. The informant was her son-in-law, George Maxwell. (Note John Beattie is a widower in 1911)

Wow!   Thank you!   I could not find evidence of a spouse anywhere!

They named their daughter Mary Jane, too, and probably called her Jane because that's the name on her marriage license.

Do you happen to know the death record for James Hillis; father of Alexander Hillis?   He was probably born around 1840.
