Stratfield Saye Baptisms etc
« on: Saturday 16 July 11 15:42 BST (UK) »
I wonder if anyone has full details of the parish registers for Stratfield Saye please?

The IGI shows a base born child Eliza Strong, baptised 1813, parents Martha Strong and William Bartholomew.
I would love to know if the original has any other comments/details, particularly about William, as I have no idea who he is or where he is from.
Many thanks

Dear Hatinavid

hi there

I looked at the register today at the HRO ...

baptism 7.11.1813 illegitimate daughter of William Bartholomew - Abode Tidmarsh, Farmer
and Martha Strong of Stratfield Say.

I have just checked where Tidmarsh is and its Berkshire about 15 miles away.

Hope he went on to marry her !!!

Lucy

Oh wow, Lucy, thank you so very, very much!  :)

And, nope, he never married her, the cad  >:( Martha was my 4x Gt Grandmother, and she ended up marrying my 4x gt Grandfather, Thomas Cowdery in 1818 in Middlesex. [He is also a bit of a mystery as he inconsiderately died just prior to the 1851 census, he has now been my brickwall for 9years, so do let me know if you ever stumble across a baptism for him around 1790 lol]

I really appreciate your time in looking up Eliza's baptism and am so pleased I now have an abode for William. Wonder if he was already married

Again many thanks
