yes andrea - i did look at that website - BUT its just a book - not a record. the families have to add names - not many are there.

reason i ask is that i have some people im trying to find that may have been cremated - some i do know were defo cremated.. just to tie up some ends

It gives contact details for the crematorium though so you could ask them to look for the names you are researching.

great - have found my great grandparents graves at last!!! they are in thornaby cemetry in an unmarked grave - together with another child i didnt know of [that makes 9 kids now  :o]

if anyone is in the similar situation looking for family graves stockton borough council have a bereavement service - if you give them the details of who your looking for they will help you search. cant thank them enough been very very helpful.

also if anyone is looking for cremation records they don't go back beyond 1961 for middlesbrough crematorium. there is an older crematorium in darlington though.

ok so now i have an unmarked grave with 3 family members - i can put a small marker on the grave but no headstone - apparently the grave rights were unpurchased so i can just put a small marker or similar.. at last william can be laid to rest with the knowledge that his name will be remembered - by the looks of it he had a very hard life working as a iron roller in thornaby.
