Anyone help with where I could get a death record for my grand uncle Barney who died in Quebec about 1930? Thanks

Do you know what his wife's name was? There's a burial in New Glasgow (Presbyterian Church) for a "Mrs. Bernard Tedford (nee Christina Dewar, widow of the late Bernard Tedford) in 1939 in the Drouin Collection at Ancestry. If that is your man's widow and he also died or was buried in New Glasgow then you may be out of luck as there appears to be a gap in the records for that parish with the years 1918-1938 missing.

Hi Jacquie
Yes - that is his widow. I had already found her and thought it was strange that there was no record of him being buried there as well but you have solved the mystery with the info on missing records.  Is there any national index for Canada that I am missing or would I have to rely on some kind member who lived nearby who could perhaps look at the cemetery next time passing? Sorry - I don't know how big the cemetery is or if that is possible. I am from Northern Ireland which is where Barney was born in 1839. Thanks for your reply

BMD registration is a provincial responsibility. In Quebec, statutory registation only began in the last 20 years. Here's a link to the Family Search wiki entry regarding BMDs in Quebec:

I'm afraid I'm not very confident giving advice on researching in Quebec. You might want to check out the Quebec resources thread in the Canada Resources section of the forum:
