John Kear Robertson & the Natal Military
« on: Wednesday 15 June 11 19:27 BST (UK) »
John Kear Robertson & the Natal Military.

Someone, David Jackson who had a email (*)
posted a request for information regarding this and Arthur William Robertson
 on a message board somewhere.

My relative Agnes Ann Gibb Watt married John Kear Robertson in Edinburgh 1917.
in 1918 the had a child John Kerr Robertson. She and her 5 month child
came to Canada and Vancouver Island 1919.

His attestation papers state he was in the Paden Powell scouts.

Johns father David and wife Ann was superintendant at
Asylums in Stirling, Dumfries and in NZ.

I would like to help and receive as much information
about the above folks.

What is the time period for when David and Ann were in NZ?
Did they die in NZ and do you have any middle names

No middle names.

They were missing from 1881 Scottish census onward.

John Kear Robertson was born 30 March 1879
at Wellgreen Dunfries. There is an Asylum there.

his elder sister Jane Robertson was born about 1870
Larbert, Stirlingshire. There is an Asylum there.

Don't have any info on Arthur William Robertson.
Have have some Kear INFO on the mothers side.

David & Ann are both reputed to have died in NZ.

When John married in 1917 to Agnes Ann Gibb Watt
it looks like his parents were still alive.

As there are so many David Robertson's in NZ
a tie in with arthur William Robertson may be easier

there is a probate
Name ROBERTSON Arthur William
Place Wellington
Occupation Civil Servant
Death Date 22 Jun 1916
Court Nelson
Archives Reference AAOO 17072 W5410 1481
Probate Number 1481
Filed Date 13 Aug 1916
Type WillI can't see any other matches for this man only later men by same name
From Papers past he may have been an early settler, so probably not the one you want

An Annie KEAR Robertson death notice

Thank you both.

David ROBERTSON's mother was Agnes WALKER
his father was Charles ROBERTSON a Clothier & Tailor
(deceased) at the time of David's marriage to Ann KEAR
on the 5 th day of March 1869 at Quarryford, St.Cyrus, Kincardinshire.

I have not found a record with his middle name as Walker.

However  the fact he is buried beside Ann Kear ROBERTSON
probably confirms his identity as the person of interest  referred to by
David JACKSON in his 1999 post.

If the Robertsons were living at Hill Cotage, Poriria in 1926
at the time of his death and they were buried in  Karori Cemetery
is that not a long way to go?..

I was wondering where the Asylum he was employed by was?
