Thank you both.

David ROBERTSON's mother was Agnes WALKER
his father was Charles ROBERTSON a Clothier & Tailor
(deceased) at the time of David's marriage to Ann KEAR
on the 5 th day of March 1869 at Quarryford, St.Cyrus, Kincardinshire.

I have not found a record with his middle name as Walker.

However  the fact he is buried beside Ann Kear ROBERTSON
probably confirms his identity as the person of interest  referred to by
David JACKSON in his 1999 post.

If the Robertsons were living at Hill Cotage, Poriria in 1926
at the time of his death and they were buried in  Karori Cemetery
is that not a long way to go?..
I was wondering where the Asylum he was employed by was?

Approx 23 kms

Cheers Janette

Thank you all again,

I posted a reply yesterday by mistake to a new topic.

see David Walker and John Kear Robertson topic.

my mistake.

I have used some of your replies to
contact the Alylum(Hospital) Museum to see if they
have any record of his (David ROBERTSON) being on staff.

Hi,

Agnes Ann Gibb Watt and John Kear Robertson are my grandparents.

David Walker Robertson and Annie Kear Robertson went to New Zealand with four of their children:

Jane Helen
Agnes Walker
David Walker
Arthur William

another daughter Ann we understand stayed in Scotland, my grandfather John fought in the Boer War then came to Canada, he returned to fight in the war where he met my Agnes and returned to Canada after the war.

David Walker Sr., Annie Kear, Arthur William and Agnes Walker are all buried in the Karori Cemetery.  David Walker Jr. apparently died on one of the Pacific Islands.

Jane was married in Scotland to John Smith Jackson.

 Cheers
Robertson, Watt, Kear, Dorian, Walker

Delighted to meet you.

Agnes Ann Gibb is my relative thru her grandfather Thrift WATT,
one of his daughters Isabella from his first marriage married Robert
BEATTIE, my Gt Grandfather. He died Sunnside Asylum, Montrose 1899.

John Smith JACKSON & Jane Helen or Hellen ROBERTSON married
27 October 1897 at Daviot, Aberdeenshire (nr Inverurie).

from the marriage record I see all parents were still alive
and your Gt granfather David ROBERTSON
was Steward in charge, Daviot Branch Alylum.
a witness was Agnes W. ROBERTSON.

If this is Janes sister her birth recrd does not show W. as in so many instances
the Walker was an assumed middle name not prersent at birth.

I had been unable to fine David Robeertson in the 10881 census
and assumed he went to NZ obvoisly I was wrong.

I also dont have a birth record for a David ROBERTSON was he born Lambert
or Dumfries?

Regarding you grandfathers 1915 Attestation papers where is original next of Kin was
Annie ROBERTSON, Airy Hill, Nigg was scratched out and replaced with Agnes ROBERTSON
do you know anything about Annie Birth etc.

Do you know when the family went to new Zealand.

Do you know anything about your Grandad being in the Paden Powell Scouts?

I see that you  Gran & Grandad came to Canada with October 1919 to St. Johns..

If your info is too sensitive to post send me a PM, I am in BC

Welcome to Rootchat Brendan.

Thankyou for spelling out what info you have.

If you look at the subjects of David Robertson etc
and also John Smith Jackson on the New Zealand Completed boards you
might get some additional info.

Thank you so much for Headstone (M.I.) for David ROBERTSON and family
I have the lair details but did not have the visual proof.
How did you find them? Do you have any for the JACKSONS?

I have paid 25 NZ dollars to have the records for Arthur Robertson digitized
but so far have not heard from NZ archives that it has been done.
I hope it has, the money appeared on my Visa a couple of months ago.

As you can tell from the posts You have other JACKSON and ROBERTSON
family also trying to document the twists and turns in this story.
