Hi Lynette
The only thing I can see for Archibald would indicate a mistake on his marriage entry for his mother's first name from Ann to Christina.
There is a couple, Duncan McKay and Christina (McDonald I think for her surname from a 1825 birth entry) having children in Inverness town in the right period, including an Archibald in the right year. A submitted IGI entry shows a possible marriage for them on 16 Sept. 1822. This is them I think on the censuses:
1841:Duncan Mckay 40, H L W (normally hand loom weaver) b. Scotland
Christy Mckay 40
Kenneth Mckay 11
Archabald Mckay 6
Sarah Mckay 1
Address: Factory Street, Inverness
1851:Duncan Mckay 50 Hand Loom Weaver Hemp b. Gairloch R&C
Christina Mckay 50 b. Lochcarron R&C
Archibald Mckay 16 Hand Loom Weaver Hemp
Sarah Mckay 9
Margaret Fraser 60, widowed, pauper
Mary Watson 60, visitor, pauper
Jane Fraser 16, neice
Address: 6 Plain Lane, Inverness
1861:Christina Mcdonald 57 b. Rossshire
Kenneth Mckay 30, mason b. Inverness
Archibald Mckay 26, labourer b. Inverness
Address: 16 Rose Street, Inverness
Can't see this Archibald in the censuses from 1871 onwards...which is a good sign!
There is also a death for a Christina McKay/McDonald in 1863 in Inverness town, which would fit with both parents showing as deceased on Archibald's marriage cert the following year.
Just that issue on mother's first name really....
What occupation showed for father Duncan on Archibald's marriage entry?
Monica
