James and Elizabeth McBride of Old Monkland (1911 Census)

I’m looking for GRO certificates for a family in the 1911 Census in Glasgow.

652/02 002/00 006
4 Allan Place, Coatbridge Old Monkland, Lanarkshire

James McBride   Head   30   born: Lanark, Baillieston   Col Miner (Hewer)
Elizabeth McBride   Wife   25   born: Lanark, Glasgow   -
Charles McBride   Son   4   both: Lanark, Glasgow   -
In 1911, James and Elizabeth had been married for 4 years.

However, I cannot find either the parents’ marriage record or Charles’ birth record – both presumably dated about 1907.

How could they have failed to be registered?
All suggestions welcome!
