Finding that Will
« on: Monday 11 July 11 14:10 BST (UK) »
Hi,  I am searching for a will that I know existed at one point, however, I should say that the likelihood of it having survived is probably slim. I have the will of his wife from 1555 and in hers she is a widow and mentions that her husband's will should be fulfilled in all points and meaning. So, does anyone have any experience in searching for, and finding, elusive wills?

Thanks  :)

Ryan

Hi

Have you read the information in the guide at the top of the Rootschat Essex board on wills? Unless the family lived in any areas nearer London you would be expecting any surviving wills to be held at Essex Record Office. Other than that it might be worth checking the manorial records.
