Grainger, homestead Derriaghy
« on: Monday 11 July 11 02:41 BST (UK) »
Hi all,   I've recently discovered that the Grainger side of my family tree came from the Barnfield Road area of Derriaghy, i know their farmhouse, was there around the late 16 hundreds and survived until 1934 when it was demolished and replaced, the last family member being Rebecca Grainger, does anyone have any information or photographs on this subject.
                                                                                                regards sam.

In 1862 the family name was spelt Granger in www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/ In Lagmore then, are 2 Grangers, William with house and land taxable at at ~£5 map reference 32, and James with house, office and land taxable at at ~£27, map reference 29a and b. This map reference should show you in their maps heading, the boundaries of each homestead, patience is needed !
In 1865 a James Granger son of  a James Granger Co Antrim was married see www.ancestryireland.com/quis
Between 1901 and 1911 census, see www.census.nationalarchives.ie/
William Grainger (b about 1820/1) had died, his wife Mary Ann was the same age as himself she was 90 in 1911 and had 5 children living out of 8.  back in 1901 a son James was living with them aged 39 as well as Rebecca. Rebecca’s age was 50 but in 1911 she was 56. The other children are not named.
Thats all i can add to your search except for a spelling to be wary of ie Derryaghy or Derriaghy
Good luck,
